Capital Law Provides the Human Touch

A leading Welsh law firm has announced details of an exciting new venture that it believes will make it a leading provider of HR support to businesses in Wales.

Cardiff based Capital Law LLP has launched Capital HR, a specialist human resources consultancy that will work alongside its employment law team to support clients across the whole range of HR issues. The new venture – www.capital-hr.co.uk - will be fully owned and operated through Capital Law, providing clients with a first class combination of HR and legal support all under one roof.

Joy Lewis, an HR Consultant with 10 years’ experience in the industry has been recruited to manage the business and head the team of independent HR consultants. Joy’s experience covers the full scope of HR management activities, from operations and interim HR management to project management and the provision of strategic advice. She has worked in both the private and public sector in a wide range of industries, including IT and telecoms, local government, NHS, media, engineering and construction, charity, banking and law. Joy is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

    Joy Lewis commented:

“I am delighted to be heading up Capital HR and am looking forward to establishing the business as Wales’ leading HR Consultancy. Our team of consultants have all enjoyed extensive experience both nationally and internationally, holding senior management positions in the private, public and voluntary sectors.

“As a business operated through Capital Law, the benefits to our clients are clear to see. There are a number of consultancies operating in the area, but our close link with a leading law firm is a real advantage.

Capital HR’s most requested services include:

    • Independent investigations (for grievance, disciplinary or harassment issues)
    • Interim management (eg whilst a HR Manager is on holiday)
    • Assisting companies which don’t have an existing HR function (outsourced HR management)
    • Providing an existing HR team with an extra pair of hands
    • Structuring and conducting redundancy programmes (including consulting with staff)
    • Managing recruitment programmes
    • Tackling absence
    • Training HR and management teams.

Elin Pinnell, Partner and head of Employment Law at Capital Law, added:

“The launch of Capital HR is an exciting new venture for Capital Law and, in many ways, it is the logical extension of the service we are already providing to our clients. Our Capital HR consultants are placed into a client’s business providing interim, ad hoc or permanent HR support. This is a step beyond the usual law firm/client relationship. Employment lawyers traditionally advise on ways of resolving workplace issues and this can be very effective. However, some clients don’t feel sufficiently confident or don’t have enough time or resources to implement solutions. Our Consultants fill this void.”
